Openreach has been deploying superfast broadband (up to 80mb download) over the last eight years. The UK has overall 92% coverage, with over 26 million lines covering business and consumer premises. The speeds offered by superfast broadband will meet most users’ needs for some time yet, but it’s important to prepare ourselves for the next phase of requirements.

The broadband speed people need is increasing by about 30-40% each year. That’s why Openreach have started rolling out Ultrafast.

There are two major technologies for Ultrafast: G.fast and Fibre to the Premises (FTTP).

G.fast provides amazingly high speeds from the same copper network that was originally used for voice calls. G.fast is currently being trialled in 19 exchanges, with Openreach planning to roll out starting in October 2017.
So coming soon. Honestly !
